Granite Seas

“We are the water, not the hard diamond.” – Jorge Luis Borges

Granite Seas
begins as a poetic encounter between worlds, from the colours of the Pacific Ocean to the bold, expressive patterns of the Andean highlands. This collection captures the spirit of Latin America in a rare collaboration with the Florence Broadhurst archives, blending her archival prints with our cross-cultural lens.

It's an homage to diversity, rhythm, and landscape, rendered through wearable expressions of intent.

“...and the colossal silence imposed its granite seas.” – Pablo Neruda

Every piece in Granite Seas is an exploration of comfort as a form of empowerment. Constructed from natural alpaca fibres, our outerwear merges timeless silhouettes with sculptural volume, garments that speak of shelter, of movement, of memory.

The textures and tones channel the quiet strength of volcanic coastlines and the tender echo of ancestral journeys.

"For all the shadows, dreams, and forms woven into the texture of this life.” – Jorge Luis Borges

This collection is a soulful celebration of heritage, integrating the concepts of travel, home and belonging. Through colour, print and form, Granite Seas invites wearers into a narrative that honours both the rooted and the restless.

These are pieces to be lived in, crafted with care, worn with purpose, and passed on with meaning.

western normative fashion, the term ‘exotic’ is used to refer to elements of new fashion codified as profoundly different from previous or contemporary fashion techniques. ‘The ethnocentric underpinnings of western fashion ensure that differences between codes of exoticism and mundanity are played up’ [1] to create meaning, but can inadvertently lead us into narratives that foster unequal relations of power and valus creative cultural leaders from a variety of disciplines, be it fashion, textile design or contemporary curating, it is important to interrogate and reflect on these practices. Recent shifts in the balance of cultural power have compelled many cultural institutions to critically reflect, interpret and display non-western collections [2] while advancing decolonial practices. Yet it is important to take a more nuanced exploration of these attempts; identifying the blind spots and harmoniously as one of Australia’s greatest strengths’.[3] Australian based
